Å beskrive smak og aroma på de forskjellige humletypene er svært vanskelig, og å anbefale hvilke humler som passer best til de forskjellige øltypene er enda vanskeligere. Derfor bør man bruke denne beskrivelsen som en veiledning og skaffe seg sin egen erfaring ut ifra sin personlige smak. Det er dette som er så fint med å drive med ølbrygging, man har muligheten til å tilfredsstille sin egen personlige smak til aller minste detalj.
